Oh no, the end of the world is nigh!!!
But facebook feels fine. In fact the social media giant feels so fine that it has recently launched a new feature in its messaging system. Facebook will charge $1 for a service that will guarantee your message get delivered directly into the recipient's main inbox. I didn't know until literally yesterday that facebook had even made the change of creating what is essentially a junkbox for spam and unwanteds, but they named it the "other" box. They're charging individuals right now to guarantee that their messages can spam directly instead of being swept to the "other" inbox. Facebook went on to explain why you should pay them money saying "if you want to send a message to someone you heard speak at an event but are not friends with, or if you want to message someone about a job opportunity, you can use this feature to reach their Inbox." I know, I'm going to ignore that as well.
The movie that tells the story of Seal Team Six and tracking Osama Bin Laden, already released to select theaters, has come under fire. The C.I.A. has issues with a scene depicting the use of torture to get vital information on Bin Laden. Senate representatives of the agency have stated they have looked at the C.I.A.'s files and site that no such torture was used to get the information needed and that they essentially just got the info in another manner that you shouldn't worry about. Something that nobody seems to be bringing up is the fact that this is a movie, and anybody thinking that something out of Hollywood is completely factual is out of their mind anyway. Basically everybody is pointing fingers and saying the other is an ass, and I'm just laughing because we know the C.I.A. operates under near-complete secrecy and anything said or done by or about them can be complete bullshit. Either way, I look forward to the wide release on January 11th, no matter if it's B.S. or not.
In other news, slut-shaming continues. A three time US Olympian has come forth to the public, admitting that she worked as a high-end prostitute in Las Vegas(where prostitution is legal). Suzy Favor Hamilton, who is married, was outed by an internet tabloid and issued a public statement herself. She said "I am not a victim here and knew what I was doing" adding "I realize I have made highly irrational choices and I take full responsibility
for them". Her spouse did know of her sex-work and she stated "He wasn't supportive of this at all". She mentioned that she did the escorting because she's working through some personal issues, of which she is being treated for by professionals.
Mrs. Favor Hamilton is an upstanding member of her community. Besides being an Olympian for her country 3 times she also runs a real estate firm with her husband. She also does motivational speaking and promotional duties for Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association as well as for Disney. It seems many look over all of these credits to her personality and choose to shun her because she worked as a sex worker in an established industry. I don't subscribe to that same point of view. Though I feel for her husband, he wasn't exactly a willing participant, it is her choice and she didn't exactly go hooking on the corner next to a meth house. She made a risky choice, she hoped it would stay down low. Unfortunately, now it has gotten out in a society that likes to look down their noses at sex-work even though it is "the oldest profession". I'm not saying what she did was necessarily healthy, but I don't think she should be shamed by the public for her choices. Her issues are personal and didn't effect anybody but herself and her family.
Instagram the social-media photo application, changed their minds to a more rational train of thought. Instagram canceled plans on using user content without permission for advertising. Originally they had planned to change their "Terms of Service" so that they could use the pictures of users in advertising without compensation and the signing of the new Terms of Service would've assumed permission on all content, including content from those who were underage. The company started with this idea(a bad one) as a means to monetize their services, which is from a free to use application. Their wording was too broad for the public and people raised hell over it, so Instagram thought better and kept the 2010 Terms of Service in action.
Well that's all I have for now kiddos, until Monday. Have a good weekend and get completely obliterated for the apocalypse!
